How to read Persian texts

Lately, there has been many talks of how to standardise the writting of Persian texts in the world wide web.  While I have different oppinions about subject, I have chosen to use the simple text form here.  This system requires the use of a certain font.  In the future, for the sake of regular updates to this page, I might adopt another system such as the Unicode.  For now, please use the following system to read the texts included in the Literature Page.

I have used two systems when writing these materials.

For the first kind, you have to follow the directions below. I will put a (T) by these poems.

1-You should use at least NetscapeNavigator 2.02 or 3.0 in order to read the poems.

2- Download Persian True Type Font (Go to Neda.net'sdownload site for more versions) and install it on your windows (Main menu/ Desktop/fonts).  (you can also try to download it from here , just right mouse click and then choose "save link as..").

3- If you are using Netscape3.0 or later (I guess it workes with the Explorer 3.0 as well), then you are done! From now on, you can read thousand of web pages written in Persian without any difficulties! If you are not using the above software, then read the rest!

3- In your browsers Options menu, under General Preferences/ Fonts, choose the Persian True Type font you have downloaded on the "choose the proportional font" dialog box and select User Defined mode on the for Encoding menu.

4- Again under the Options menu, click on Document Encoding Option and choose User Defined as your encoding.

5- Click on the links to read the poems.

6-You only need to do the step "3" once. For later use, you only have to change the Document encoding( just step 4).

For the second system, you have no trouble, just click. I put an (IM) by these poems.
